What is a Ping

Software used within computer networking often come with a "ping" utility. The ping utility is used to test and troubleshoot connection problems on Internet Protocol (IP) computer networks. A ping utility will send packets of data to a destination address (computer), and will then wait for a response. This process of being "pinged" will show how fast the network connection is between two computers by recording the time it takes to connect and respond.
